What the calculator assumes
- 52 paid weeks a year. Hourly pay over 40 hours a week counts as overtime at 1.5×, and the 2026 federal overtime deduction applies to the extra half.
- Your 401(k) contribution lowers federal and most state income tax but not Social Security or Medicare. Pennsylvania taxes it.
- Health premiums are treated as pre-tax (section 125). They lower income tax and FICA; New Jersey still taxes them.
- Married filing jointly assumes one earner. No dependents, credits, other income or local taxes. Full methodology.
