Data notes for Maryland
Brackets per HB 352 (BRFA 2025) effective TY2025: new 6.25% and 6.5% brackets; statutory, not indexed. HOH uses the joint schedule. Standard deduction became a flat $3,350 / $6,700 (MFJ, HOH) in 2025 and is indexed by chained CPI (HB 352) - 2026 amounts PROJECTED as $3,400 / $6,850 (2025 x 1.02266 chained-CPI factor, rounded down to $50 as in PE's metadata); not verified against a Comptroller publication (search budget exhausted). Personal exemption $3,200 per person, reduced in steps by federal AGI (Exemption Amount Chart): single <=$100k $3,200, <=$125k $1,600, <=$150k $800, above $0; MFJ/HOH thresholds $150k/$175k/$200k -> special md_exemption_agi_steps. The 2% capital-gains surtax (AGI > $350k) does not apply to wages. County/Baltimore City local income tax (2.25%-3.30%, applied to MD taxable income) is excluded but material. Maryland FAMLI paid-leave payroll contributions are not included: to our knowledge they have not started in 2026 (deferred), but this could not be re-verified.
